Through the column of your esteemed paper, I want to draw your attention to the importance of lockdown in containing COVID-19. As you know it is a highly contagious disease and social distancing is the only solution to fight this. India was badly hit after uplifting the first phase of lockdown. It is evident from the news that the countries that did not follow lockdown strictly are regretting now. The second wave was disastrous in those countries where lockdown restrictions were relaxed.
As you are aware of the fact that people have started moving out of their houses as usual following the relaxations given by the government. I request the government officials to please consider the matter seriously and extend the lockdown period as it is the only solution available to tackle this pandemic.
