Short Moral Story

Once upon a time, in the year 2023, there was a little boy named Max. Max was a very kind and friendly boy who loved to help his friends and family. He always said “yes” when someone asked him for help, even if it meant giving up his own time or resources.

One day, Max’s classmate, Jack, asked him if he could borrow his favourite toy. Max loved his toy very much, but he didn’t want to disappoint Jack, so he said “Yes”. Jack promised to take good care of the toy and return it soon.

Days went by, and Jack didn’t return the toy. Max started to worry, but he didn’t want to upset Jack by asking for it back. Soon, Max realized that Jack had no intention of returning the toy, and he felt very upset and disappointed.

Max’s mother noticed how sad he was and asked him what was wrong. Max told her about Jack and the toy, and how he felt like he couldn’t say no. His mother explained to him that saying “no” is important, especially when someone asks for something that belongs to him or makes him uncomfortable.

Max learned that it’s okay to say no and stand up for himself. He also learned that real friends would respect his feelings and boundaries and that it’s better to be honest than to pretend to be okay with something that’s not okay.

From that day on, Max promised himself to always listen to his feelings and say no when he needed to. And he found that his friendships became even stronger because he was being true to himself.
