Analytical Paragraph for Class 10
The table shows a comparative study of staple food items over three years, from February 2018 to January 2021.
According to the given data, the prices have been rising steeply. Flour prices have almost doubled in just three years. Tour daal prices showed almost a two-third hike in prices. Rice rates increased by 50%. Groundnut oil recorded the least rising speed of around 45%. Skyrocketing prices of oil and Tour daal make it unfit for a poor family’s kitchen budget.
To summarize, a hike in basic food prices means the poor can’t afford even one square meal. The government must control the prices of essential commodities.
The recent pandemic has had an adverse effect on every facet of life. ‘Young Minds’ conducted a survey to show how the mental health of young people has been affected during this time. 2,111 young people took part in the survey which shows how the lockdown is not only impacting jobs and the economy but also mental health. Write an interpretation in 100-120 words on how lockdown in the times of COVID-19 has affected the mental health of young people.
The doughnut chart clearly illustrates how the mental health of young people has been affected during the pandemic. This data was recorded in a survey conducted by Young Minds.
It is evident from the given doughnut chart that nearly 15% of people’s mental health was not affected during the lockdown. Whereas, approximately 27% of people feel much worse when compared with their pre-lockdown mental health. A striking 45% of people feel a bit worse. On the contrary, 10% feel a bit better. Interestingly, only 3% of people felt that their mental health has become substantially better.
In a nutshell, nearly 72% of people felt that their mental health has gotten worse during the lockdown. But in the opposite case, around 13% of people felt that the lockdown had a positive impact on their mental health. This shows us the probable number of people who might be suffering from mental health issues and raises awareness of it.

The table shown above depicts the increasing prices of commodities used in daily basis. it can be inferred that in three years from Feb 18 to 21 prices of commodities have shown significant increment. price of Groundnut oil(per litre) has enormously increased from 85 to 121rupees but has been constant in subsequent years. The price of rice did not show any rapid increase relatively than other commodities. however the price of rice has shown 50% increase. in contrast the price of flour almost doubled within three years but was same as rice during Feb 20. it is important to observe that price of tour dal has shown a big leap in increase from 45 to 75 rupees. Overall it can be concluded that this increment in prices is not a good sign for the economy especially for the poor people who struggle for even one square meal. intervention of government in this aspect is necessary.
